Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to seriously go after Reading's Chris Gunter.

According to the Daily Mail, the Bhoys are prepared to trigger the defender's £1million release clause in a bid to lure him from the Madejski Stadium to Parkhead.

Celtic assistant Chris Davies worked with Gunter at Reading and will have given Rodgers plenty of positive words about the 26-year-old right-back, formerly of Nottingham Forest, who is contracted with the Royals until the summer of 2018.

Gunter has impressed for Wales at Euro2016 and managed to keep Belgium's Eden Hazard under wraps in the Dragons' stunning quarter-final win on the weekend.
