Celtic are believed to be tracking 22-year old Israeli striker Omer Damari.
The Maccabi Petah Tikva ace has been recommended to the Hoops management by fellow countryman Beram Kayal and the Glasgow club are prepared to spend up to £1.7million on his services.
However, an immediate transfer is unlikely as Damari is currently injured and Celtic do not want to risk bringing him to Parkhead if he is not fully fit which is expected to occur in about a month's time.
Kayal told Israeli reporters that Damari is one of the top strikers and his country and that Celtic should go after him.
"Omer and I talked in January and also less than two months ago. Damari asked me about the offer and I gave him a strong recommendation," he said.
"Celtic asked me what I know about him. I told them Omer is one of the top strikers in Israel."
