Celtic's Stokes called back into Republic of Ireland setup

Celtic striker Anthony Stokes has been re-called into the Republic of Ireland national team.

The 25-year old has not represented his country since he pulled out of a 2011 friendly because of tiredness when Giovanni Trapattoni was in charge but will be given another chance through interim boss Noel King.

Stokes, along with fellow former long-time absentees Darron Gibson (Everton) and Andy Reid (Nottingham Forest), have been included in King's 25-man squad for World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan on October 10 and 14 respectively.
