Celtic revisit interest in Liverpool striker Awoniyi

Celtic are eager to make a move for Liverpool youngster Taiwo Awoniyi.

The 23-year-old is with Union Berlin in Germany on loan at the moment.

Awoniyi has impressed with Union, scoring five goals in 12 games so far this term.

According to the Daily Record, both Celtic and Scottish rivals Rangers want to sign the attacker.

Awoniyi is highly rated at Liverpool, but the Nigerian has work permit issues that mean he may need to spend another season on loan before he is ready to take up a first team spot with the club.

It is unclear if the move to either Celtic or Rangers would be a loan for next season, or if the clubs would attempt to sign Awoniyi permanently.

The report suggested the Reds may accept a fee of around £5 million if they did decide to sell the player.
