Celtic rejoice as Crystal Palace target Brown pens new deal

Celtic captain Scott Brown has signed a brand new deal with the Scottish giants.

The 29-year old Scotland midfielder, who has recently been linked with Crystal Palace, has penned a contract extension with the Bhoys which will see him remain at Parkhead until the summer of 2018.

Brown, who joined Celtic from Hibernian in 2007, said it was a great thrill to commit himself to the cause of the Glasgow powerhouse after notching close to 300 appearances for the club.

"It's an absolute privilege to extend my contract with Celtic, a brilliant football club and with such incredible supporters. This is a place that I call home," he told the club's official website.

"Being Celtic captain is a tremendous honour and it is a role which I cherish dearly. The team is in a great place just now and we're all right behind the manager and the backroom team as they build for the future.

"I will do all I can with the manager and all the players at the club to deliver the success which our supporters deserve."
