Celtic are reportedly looking to win the race to sign Honduran international Osman Chavez. The highly-rated defender almost joined Tottenham in August, but a deal failed to materialise and he is now training with the Hoops.
Chavez was with Blackburn last week, who are keen to strike a deal, but he is now in Scotland with Tony Mowbray's men.
Celtic are understood to be trying to broker a deal for January which will see Chavez move on loan from his current club Platense, until the summer, with a view to a permanent deal.
"Osman is a very, very good player who has shown with Honduras he is capable of playing in Europe," Barry McIntosh, who has taken the player to Celtic, told skysports.com.
"Celtic already like what they have seen and we would think they will be keen on doing a deal.
"We are very hopeful of getting something done with Osman for January."
