Celtic face competition for departing Newcastle United coach Alan Thompson.

Toon confirmed yesterday Thompson's departure as reserve team coach.

The Evening Chronicle says Thompson has been linked with a move to Celtic to work with potential new boss Neil Lennon, but that this isn't near completion yet and there are a clutch of other teams in England interested in taking on the ex-Toon player.
