Celtic to be boosted by return of Samaras, Ledley and Kayal

Celtic's Champions League hopes have been boosted by news that a key trip could return for next week's trip to Russia.

The Hoops take on Spartak Moscow at the Luzhniki Stadium in their second group match on Tuesday and returning to the squad will be key forward Georgios Samaras, winger Joe Ledley and midfielder Beram Kayal.

Manager Neil Lennon suggests that both Ledley and Kayal will be in the squad for tonight's League Cup meeting with Raith Rovers at Parkhead whilst Samaras will be given time to prove his fitness for the trip to Moscow.

"The two of them are back in the squad which is a boost for us," said Lennon.

"Samaras is only doing a little bit to keep himself ticking over. He's not anywhere near full pelt yet but we're hoping we'll have him back soon. There's a good chance he'll be fit for Moscow."

Celtic drew 0-0 with Portuguese outfit Benfica in their Group G opener last week whilst Spartak squandered a 2-1 lead to eventually lose 3-2 to the Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona.
