Celtic ace Griffiths chasing scoring record held by two former Man Utd strikers

Leigh Griffiths has his eyes set on breaking a Celtic goalscoring record held by Brian McClair and Henrik Larsson.

McClair and Larsson are joint record holders of the most league goals scored in a single season for Celtic at 35.

Current Bhoys star Griffiths is well on course of breaking the record as he has managed 24 goals in 26 appearances so far this campaign and the striker has now stated that it is his aim to enter into the record books by surpassing the duo who both spent time at Manchester United along with their successful stints at Parkhead during their careers.

Griffiths said: "Henrik Larsson is the best striker who has ever played for this club.

"To be up there with the likes of him, Chris Sutton and John Hartson is great but I want to make a name for myself.

"All I can do really is to keep scoring goals and playing well.

"We will see what happens in the future but it would be great if people were to say: 'Here comes the record goalscorer'."
