Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to assign the club captaincy to goalkeeper Petr Cech next season, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report claims that Wenger wants to hand over the captaincy to someone who is a regular starter.
Current captain Mikel Arteta is in the last year of his contract and is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium or even retire from professional football in the summer.
Meanwhile, doubts have been raised recently about vice-captain Per Mertesacker's place in the starting eleven which leads Wenger to consider veteran Cech as his next on-field leader.
