The Catalan press have slammed Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo after his attack on Xavi.

Ronaldo took issue with criticism from the Barcelona legend last week.

He responded with: "Xavi who? I have three Ballon d'Ors, what does he have? Now he plays in Qatar or I know not where."

Francesc Gimeno, a journalist for Sport, replied:

"Cristiano Ronaldo showed again that humility is not one of its main qualities.

"Ronaldo felt humiliated and insulted, boasting of having three Golden Balls, as if this was the only criteria to measure the quality of a footballer. The problem is that he is discredited by the observations made by himself, when he said that the Ballon d'Or was not an obsession.

"These comments about Xavi reveal his true personality. This is someone who thinks only of personal honors.

"Ronaldo is a hypocrite. He is obsessed with the desire to dethrone Messi. The Ballon d'Or is his only target."
