Cascarino: Nunez not good enough for Liverpool - for now

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has declared Liverpool ace Darwin Nunez isn't ready for a Premier League start.

The ex-Benfica man has scored three times in the Premier League from eight appearances, but there are claims that he should have added more goal contributions after several missed opportunities.

After defeat to Leeds, Cascarino told talkSPORT: “He's not ready enough to be in the Liverpool team.

“This team has been challenging for all the major honours under Klopp for the last two or three years. He's not ready to be in this type of Liverpool team, that's the difference. I'm not saying he hasn't got a Liverpool future, he has. I just think there are certain players in Liverpool's team, and senior pros, who are not playing well.

“I am not surprised Liverpool got beat yesterday. I don't feel Liverpool can beat anyone at the moment. If you lose to Nottingham Forest and then back it up by losing to Leeds at home. Two teams [where] the managers are under pressure to be sacked, and we've lost to both of them."
