Carlos Carvalhal has declared Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho the "King of Europe" - but says he has a new challenger in Flamengo coach Jorge Jesus.

Former Swansea City boss Carvalhal is now in charge of Rio Ave and is delighted for Jorge Jesus after he led Fla to victory in the final of the Copa Libertadores on Sunday.

"I want to congratulate him on winning the Libertadores Cup. It is good for him, for Flamengo, for Portugal, but also for the national coaches, because this success will certainly open more doors in the market," said Carvalhal, who also is happy for Mourinho over his move to Spurs.

"It is a pleasure to see him come back. I have always felt when I was abroad, and particularly in England, which is how you open doors for Portuguese coaches. Mourinho is 'King of Europe', but we also have the "King of Africa" who is Manuel Jose, and now the 'King of the Americas' with Jorge Jesus.
