Manchester United's veteran midfielder Michael Carrick, who captained the team in Wednesday's EFL Cup win over Manchester City, came in for special praise from boss Jose Mourinho.
"The only thing I can say is that he's phenomenal, no doubts about it," says Mourinho. "Do I have to manage him? I think I have to.
"I cannot expect from Michael what I expect for Rashford and Herrera. When he is on the pitch he gives us important things, stability in our game, freedom to get the guys around him, more offensive.
"He's not just a player - he's one who has a big understanding of the game."
