Carragher reveals 2 offers to leave Liverpool

Jamie Carragher says he had two offers to leave Liverpool before he retired.

The 43-year-old saw Premier League playing time reduce in his final two campaigns at the club, making 21 and 24 appearances respectively, but stayed true to the Reds up until his retirement.

Carragher did have the opportunity to seek a new challenge away from Merseyside, but opted to stay put.

"I had a couple [of offers] at the end of my career when I couldn't get in the team," he told Sky Sports.

"Ally McCoist tried to get me to go to Rangers and Roberto Martinez told me he tried to get me to Wigan to play in a back three.

"This is only when we've worked together afterwards, I didn't know anything about it. Whether he [Roberto Martinez] was just buttering me up, I don't know.

"So, it was either the SPL or the bottom of the Premier League for me - there were no Spanish giants I can assure you!"
