Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher feels Brendan Rodgers deserves a better reputation amongst Reds fans.
Carragher compared the Celtic manager's time at Anfield with current boss Jurgen Klopp.
He said, "The thing I don't like about this comparison, it's almost seen as a dig at Brendan Rodgers.
“Rodgers is I think at times ridiculed, even sometimes by Liverpool fans.
“He came closer than anyone to winning a league title [in the Premier League era].
“Is there a difference with Klopp? In Brendan Rodgers' time he got Champions League football once.
“If Klopp gets it this season it will be a very good season for Liverpool.
“Liverpool have got to get back to being a Champions League club.
“You can talk about winning trophies and winning the league. Liverpool have only been in the Champions League twice in 10 years and the only reason they got in it was because they had no European football that season.
“So if Klopp can get in it again this season, on the back of having European football, how competitive it is now, he's up against Mourinho, Wenger, Pochettino.
“So two full seasons to get in the top four I think would be a really good job."
