The son of Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has signed pro terms with Wigan Athletic.
James has been a feature of the Latics academy set-up for the last four years since he joined in 2017 after a brief period with Liverpool's youth side.
His first pro-contract with Wigan comes in the wake of his scholarship teams expiring, the League 1 side doing well to tie him down to a new deal as the centre-half has previously attracted interest from a number of Premier League sides.
Liverpool's fierce local rivals Everton were linked with a move for the defender in May of this year, while there was talk of a potential move that could see another ex-Liverpool legend enter the fray, reports the Mirror.
Around a similar time to Everton's interest, Scottish outfit Rangers, managed by Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard, were also touted with a move for Carragher.
