Carragher: FSG know Liverpool will have to pay premium price for Bellingham

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher believes the club's owner and FSG chief John Henry will be watching Jude Bellingham with envious glances.

The English star has been sensational at the World Cup for the Three Lions.

Bellingham assisted a goal in their 3-0 win over Senegal in the round of 16 on Sunday.

"There will be only three people in the world watching Bellingham in Qatar and feeling anxious – Florentino Pérez, Sheikh Mansour and JW Henry," Carragher wrote in his column for the Telegraph regarding the potential summer chase to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

"The owners of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool know they will be involved in an auction to get him."

Carragher added: "Paul Gascoigne in Italia '90. Michael Owen in France '98. Wayne Rooney in the 2004 Euros. Jude Bellingham in Qatar 2022. England's midfield prodigy has joined the list of players who have elevated their status to that of a national hero with mastery on the biggest stage. Another stellar display against Senegal confirmed why Bellingham will be the most wanted signature of every top coach before next season.

"Whatever happens against France, or beyond if England get through, his performances have defined those of Southgate's team. It will not just be England supporters purring at the prospect of seeing where his career takes him. Bellingham is not only an England superstar now. He is three more wins from becoming a World Cup legend."
