Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher admits that Everton will have bragging rights over his old club in one matter if Carlo Ancelotti becomes their new manager.

The Italian is being linked with the Toffees by several sources in England and Italy.

And if Ancelotti does take over at the Toffees, Carragher acknowledges that Everton will have a manager who has won more trophies than their boss Jurgen Klopp.

Ancelotti is a multiple Champions League winning manager who was recently sacked by Napoli, despite taking them to the round of 16 of this year's competition.

"I can't change my mind on [whether Ancelotti is right] because I think these are real big jobs," Carragher said on Sky Sports.

"I think if I go through Carlo Ancelotti's career, he hasn't had these types of job, certainly even more so Everton than Arsenal.

"You're talking about a rebuilding job, a club that hasn't been part of the elite for 25-30 years really.

"So it's interesting but I have to take my hat off if they pull it off, Everton.

"The supporters have been complaining a lot about managers they've had in the past and why not, rather than spending a lot of money on the pitch, give one of the real elite managers big money wages-wise to bring someone in who's at the top of football?

"In Ancelotti you are getting someone who is right at the top of football.

"This is a man who Evertonians, if this comes off, can say has won more than Jurgen Klopp, has won Champions Leagues, it gives them something to really buy into with that manager.

"As I said I can't change my view from yesterday, whether it's Arsenal or Everton I'm not sure he is the man for these type of jobs.

"I think there is a real big job that I think no matter how successful Ancelotti's been in the past, he's never really had this type of job or certainly excelled in this type of role.

"But as I said he hasn't had that one before."
