Carr would welcome Celtic star McGeady at Birmingham

Birmingham City fullback Stephen Carr would love to see Celtic winger Aiden McGeady join him at St Andrews.

Carr has seen the 23-year-old at close quarters on Republic of Ireland duty and believes the Celtic ace would be a hit down south.

He told the Sunday Mail: "Aiden has the ability to go right to the top. I've played with him for the Republic of Ireland so I know what I'm talking about.

"Several clubs would like to sign him and it will be interesting to see if Celtic sell in the summer. They'd get top dollar for Aiden - that's for sure.

"At some stage players have to be allowed to move on so they can be tested at another level week-in, week-out.

"Maybe that time is now coming for Aiden. I'd be delighted if he chose to come here. He is good enough to improve any side and would be a top player in the Premiership."
