Carr battling with serious injury for Birmingham cause

Birmingham City captain Stephen Carr has been taking daily painkilling injections to cope with a toe injury.

The full back broke his toe in pre-season, but such his desire to turn out for Blues he has been playing through the pain barrier.

"Stevie has been taking injections every day for the past month or so," said Blues boss Alex McLeish.

"To endure the injections alone is quite a feat because the cortisone injections go right in deep and it's quite a tender area on his little toe."
