Carpi coach Fabrizio Castori was delighted with their 1-0 win over Empoli.

Carpi are now almost safe from relegation.

“Empoli proved to be a very tough opponent," Castori told Sky Sport Italia.

“The team suffered and played against a strong side, but we did well to keep believing in ourselves right to the end. This goal puts us in a good position going into the final three rounds."

Castori was also sent off for encroachment, as he walked on to the pitch when Levan Mchedlidze was sent off for lashing out an arm.

“I wasn't protesting, I just wanted to figure out what was going on and forgot about the technical area."
