Carlton Palmer says he's okay after heart attack suffered in half-marathon

Former England international Carlton Palmer gave fans an update on his condition.

The 57-year-old was participating in the Sheffield half marathon on Sunday when he felt his heart "play up". Palmer managed to complete the rest of the run alongside his wife, Lucy Kirkby-Palmer, before heading to hospital.

The ex-footballer was taken to hospital after suffering a heart attack shortly before he was due to depart for a holiday.

The ex-Southampton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United star is said to be doing well.

"Just to let everyone know I am ok, being kept in overnight in hospital observation/tests heart played up again in the first mile but I managed to complete the course," he tweeted.

"Congratulations to my gorgeous wife for going sub two hours love you."
