Carlisle keen to deal in Sunderland loanee Noble

Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott intends to discuss with Sunderland a permanent deal for Liam Noble, following the end of his loan spell with the League One club. "Liam is going to have a talk with [Sunderland boss] Martin O'Neill," Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"He'll find out what his thoughts are about his future and get back to us."

Noble has completed the maximum permitted time on loan at Brunton Park, and as such any further deal between the two clubs would be a permanent switch.

Abbott added: "He is going to go back to Sunderland initially to iron that out, I am waiting for the outcome of that conversation and that would probably take about a week.

"Martin has got a massive job on doing his thing with Sunderland, so we will wait until the outcome of that."
