Carlisle have been fined £3,000 by the Football League for fielding an under-strength side in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash at Morecambe. A Football League panel ruled that the League One side fielded only five players who are deemed first-team regulars in the game on September 1, with rule 7.3 stating that at least six must be included in the starting line-up.
The Cumbrians, who won the clash on penalties,must pay & pound;1,500 immediately, with another £1,500 suspended pending future involvement in the competition.
