Carlisle eager to maintain Man Utd relationship

Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott will target more Manchester United loan signings next season.

James Chester, Oliver Norwood and Joe Dudgeon all saw action with Carlisle last term.

Abbott told News & Star Sport: "We have a very good link with Manchester United and we would be daft if we didn't look to continue that relationship.

"I've spoken to Manchester United and we are certainly in the running when they allow young players to go out on loan.

"Manchester United are the best team in England and have a crop of the best young players.

"Sir Alex likes the way we do things here and we have to exhaust every situation to try to improve the club.

"I'm sure the link with Manchester United is something we will use again.

"At the moment, unless I can get season-long loans, it is something I want to look at further down the line."
