Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott is close to completing loan extensions for Manchester City's Adam Clayton, Chelsea's Tom Taiwo and striker Vincent Pericard.

Clayton's deal expires in January, Taiwo's in December and Pericard's early next month and Abbott is keen to keep them all at Brunton Park.

"We hope to be able to make an announcement as soon as possible on all three of them but, at the moment, the talks are ongoing," he told the club's official website.

"Obviously the Manchester City situation has slowed things down there, as we need to be able to speak to the new management team about Adam.

"In addition to that, the Chelsea people that we needed to talk to about Tom were all away at the Champions League draw.

"It should all be resolved soon one way or another, but we just have to be a little bit more patient."
