Carlisle boss Kavanagh hopes to keep Man Utd striker Byrne

Carlisle United boss Graham Kavanagh is delighted with the impact of on-loan Manchester United striker Sam Byrne.

Kavanagh would like to keep Byrne at Brunton Park beyond this season.

"In training Sam has been the one bright spark who I thought could give us a different dimension," he told the News & Star.

"I'm not sure he's ready to start games yet but I know for a fact he will be an impact player, and he's one I'd love to get in the building.

"Whether that can happen or not is a different story but if we can keep him fit and performing until the end of the season, I'm sure he will have a big impact."
