John Carew says Aston Villa's fans are inspiring his outstanding season form.

Players might get one song if they are lucky but Carew has two - the "Carew is on fire" chant and the "he's bigger than me and you" song relating to his giant 6ft 4ins frame.

And Carew says he wouldn't have it any other way insisting he loves the hero worship and actually uses it to channel his energy in games.

"The Villa fans have been brilliant and it has been fantastic," he told the Sunday Mercury. "The relationship with the Villa fans is something very special.

"It is great to hear them singing and when I hear the songs it always puts a smile on my face. I really enjoy it."

The big man thrives on the support.

"It really encourages me to go out on the pitch," he said: "It encourages me to go out and actually be "bigger" and better than everyone else as well."
