Cardiff City missed out on Hamburg signing Berkay Özcan, it has been revealed.

The midfielder left Stuttgart for Hamburg this month - but not before attracting an approach from Cardiff.

Hamburger Abendblatt says Cardiff made a bumper offer to the 20 year-old midfielder, but he chose HSV instead.

The move sees Ozcan reunited with HSV coach Hannes Wolf, who he worked with at VfB.

"The coach has played a very important role in my change," said Ozcan.
