CAPITAL ONE CUP - SF 2nd LEG: Man City progress to final at expense of Everton

Manchester City are into the final of the 2015/16 Capital One Cup after coming from behind to beat Everton 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Manuel Pellegrini's side came from 2-1 down from the first leg defeat at Goodison Park to eventually win 4-3 on aggregate to book their spot in the February 28 decider against Liverpool at Wembley.

The 2014 League Cup winners fell two goals behind on aggregate when Ross Barkley drove at the City defence before firing beyond Willy Caballero from range in the 18th minute but the home side managed to fight back by playing an attacking brand of football.

City pulled one goal back on 24 minutes when the ball for Fernandinho whose effort from outside the area took a massive deflection off Leighton Baines and in over Joel Robles.

As the second half progressed, Pellegrini replaced Yaya Toure with Kevin De Bruyne and the Belgian had an instant impact, firing home Raheem Sterling's cut-back with 20 minutes remaining to make it 3-3 overall.

Everton will cry foul that the goal was allowed, however, as the ball was clearly out when Sterling played it from the byline.

Nevertheless, the goal stood and it gave City the confidence to go after a winner which came just six minutes later through saviour Sergio Aguero who emphatically headed home De Bruyne's corner for his seventh goal in his past seven outings.

The triumph sends City through to their fifth final as they chase their fourth League Cup against record holders Liverpool who have won it on eight occasions.

The massive dampener was the injury sustained by De Bruyne which required him to be stretchered off with his right leg heavily strapped.
