CAPITAL ONE CUP: Late Norwich show sees West Brom bundled out

Norwich City produced three goals in the final half-hour to see of West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.

Alex Neil has guided his Canaries through to the fourth round of the league cup competition thanks to a fairly convincing performance over Albion at Carrow Road.

Both Neil and Baggies boss Tony Pulis rung the changes to their sides with no less than 18 different players between the starting line-ups taking their spot on the pitch.

It was a stalemate for the opening 45 minutes before the Canaries swung into action through West Ham United loanee Matt Jarvis who netted his second goal for the Norfolk club in the 62nd minute.

Jarvis played a lovely give-and-go with fellow loanee Dieumerci Mbokani before firing in off the underside of the bar with a powerful left-footed effort.

Albion chased the goal and came close on a couple of occasions, namely when Declan Rudd acrobatically denied Rickie Lambert's long range attempt, but with five minutes remaining they conceded again when Gary O'Neil played in Kyle Lafferty who beat Jonas Olsson in a footrace before producing a clinical finish across the body of Anders Lindegaard on his Baggies debut.

In the 90th minute, the result was put beyond doubt when Jonny Howson's low cross, meant for Lafferty, was slid into the back of his own net by Belgian defender Sebastien Pocognoli as Norwich progressed through.
