Capello slams England's 'loser' mentality

Fabio Capello claims England's failures at big competitions are due to 'loser' mentality.

The Italian was England boss at the 2010 World Cup when the Three Lions failed to impress in the group stages, before being thrashed by Germany in the round of 16.

Capello believes unnecessary pressure is put on the players and that they just can't deal with it.

"This never-ending 66, the returning ghost, something with its white tentacles... and you can no longer perform in the way that you should," he told the BBC.

"The other teams get on with it and win. They don't come up with these excuses. They're losers' excuses.

"The shirt of the national team can weigh down heavily on a player's shoulders."
