England boss Fabio Capello has taken over the groundsman's job at Wembley stadium.

The Sun says Capello has become a right pain in the grass in a bizarre bust-up over Wembley's pitch.

The turf-talking England boss wants each blade to be only 17mm long and has been to measure it with a ruler!

But groundsman Steve Welch is adamant the grass should be 2mm higher.

An England insider said: "This may sound ridiculous - but it just shows how Fabio leaves nothing to chance.

"It is thought he has been using his own ruler and does not agree with the groundsman.

"But of course the groundsman has to protect the field of play and obviously thinks he knows what's best for it."
