England coach Fabio Capello recognised the Wembley boos for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney during last night's friendly win over Hungary.
Rooney bore the brunt of the boos from the stands after a disappointing World Cup. It could have been very different for Rooney, however, if a clever third minute strike had not been ruled out for offside.
But Capello believes there will be no long-term rift between the fans and the Manchester United star.
He said: "The supporters, I am sure, think a lot of Rooney because he is a really important player.
"He can make a lot of difference in every game.
"They are giving him a hard time because the fans know he can play very well and make a difference."
