England coach Fabio Capello won't rush to cap Mainz star Lewis Holtby.

The Germany U21 captain has opened the door to playing for the country of his father.

But the Daily Mail says he is not expected to gain selection in the side Capello will name next Monday for England's European Championship qualifier against Montenegro.

There are understood to be two reasons for that. First, the FA's recognition that this is a player who - unlike Owen Hargreaves - has been educated and developed in the German system, having represented German national teams in every age group up to Under 21.

And secondly, the fact that, having watched videos of the player, Capello and his staff are not that excited anyway.
