Former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello was delighted for Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid over their win against Liverpool.

Simeone produced a coaching masterclass to beat Liverpool home and away in their round of 16 Champions League tie. However, many in England, including Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, were unhappy with the Argentine's tactics.

But Capello took the opposite view and told AS: "It was a surprise to see Atlético beat Liverpool.

"Simeone planned a great game.

"You can't criticise him for anything. I liked his game so much ... I could only do what he did."
