Former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello says Vincenzo Italiano is ready for a Champions League club.
Italiano is preparing with Fiorentina for the Europa Conference League final against West Ham United.
He has been linked with Napoli and Capello told Radio FirenzeViola: "I wouldn't define the Conference as a 'small cup'. It is still an international competition. Fiorentina must be proud to have reached the end of this tournament, given that we often define Italian teams as 'provincial' when they play in Europe. Roma taught us this last year: at an international level, when you play a final and win it, the satisfaction is always great.
"Always playing with one's own identity regardless of the opponent is a very positive thing. However, in some cases a little more attention should be paid to the team that the Viola face. Basically, you can change the game.
"When a coach is convinced of his own ideas, he feels mature for the leap in quality and coaching a big team, I believe he can and must take this step. I believe that the Italiano, first with Spezia and then with Fiorentina, has shown that he has ideas and to be able to transmit them: this is what matters most."
