Former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro has revealed how close AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic came to joining Napoli.

Cannavaro admits Napoli were in for the Swede was leaving for LA Galaxy.

He told DAZN: "We went for a ride on a Vespa through the streets of Naples, it's true.

"Ibra is in love with Naples, he's always said so and maybe there's a bit of regret on his part for never having played at Maradona.

"(President Aurelio) De Laurentiis wanted to take him to Naples, then (Rino) Gattuso stopped the deal."
