Steven Caldwell hopes for the chance to play with brother Gary at the heart of Wigan Athletic's defence.
Former Burnley captain Steven signed a 12-month deal with the struggling Latics this week.
And his dream is that he and his younger brother could team up at the heart of the club's defence - just as they have done for Scotland.
But if it comes down to a straight choice, he wants to make sure he gets the nod ahead of the newly-appointed skipper.
Caldwell, 29, said: "It would be delightful if we can both play. But if there's a choice I would rather I play than Gary.
"I've played with him at international level - and hopefully we can do it again here at Wigan.
"Gary has been made captain and I'm delighted for him.
"I don't mind taking orders from anyone as long as they are right."
