Calderon warns Real Madrid against swap deal for Man Utd star Pogba

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes that trying to sign Paul Pogba in January would be a mistake.

Reports in the Spanish press have continued to link Manchester United star Pogba with a move to Real.

The fact he has been injured for much of this season has played into the speculation.

But Calderon is skeptical of a January deal for Pogba, especially if it involves a Real player going in the other direction.

The two names being mentioned for going the other way are Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez.

"We've always had bad experiences with this transfer window," Calderon said on talkSPORT.

"There are no real players available for good teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"They are talking here about a swap – Bale or James [Rodriguez] for Pogba. But I think they are only rumours.

"It is true Zidane is looking for having Pogba; for a long time he has said that publicly.

"But I think it would be a mistake, especially to let Bale go.

"If he is fit and motivated, I think he is irreplaceable for us."
