Everton hero Tim Cahill has urged his old club to move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

Costa, who is reportedly unhappy at Atletico Madrid, won two Premier League titles during his three-season stint with Chelsea.

When discussing potential targets to boost Everton's forward line this summer, the recently-retired Cahill replied: “I'd say Diego Costa.

“[He is] someone who I think will suit the style, something for the fans.

“Everton are a big spending club.

“You can't look at Everton and say they are a small club.

“You say Diego Costa's name and everyone says 'Diego Costa, he won't come to Everton'.

“Firstly, Everton can pay the wages. Secondly, they can afford him."
