Cahill: 3-4-3 change was key for Chelsea success

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has revealed Antonio Conte's change to a 3-4-3 formation was pivotal in their title run.

The Blues can clinch the Premier League title on tonight if they defeat West Brom at the Hawthorns.

But it wasn't all smooth sailing throughout the year. A 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool and 3-0 loss to Arsenal in September caused Conte changed the system to a 3-4-3 formation.

"Those games were a big turning point," said Cahill.

"And a sign that as a squad we had the character this year and could be where we want to be.

"We could have slipped back into last year and it was a dangerous time for us, so we responded really well. I remember after those two games people were talking like it was an absolute disaster and we were going back to last season, but in-house we didn't feel that way."
