Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini was delighted with their victory over Cesena.
It was Gianfranco Zola's first victory as coach.
"The game was prepared in the right way," said Giulini to Radiolina's A Voi La Linea.
"I saw a very aggressive game right from the opening, it's a shame that we had to suffer in the final phase.
"But it was important to break the taboo and win at the Sant'Elia. "I thought things would have been easier. The month of December in particular was very tough for us. Let's hope that period was closed with the [5-0] defeat against Palermo. A new season starts now."
