Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini can't see the season ending in the set time due to the government's coronavirus protocols.

The current version starting from Monday demands if one player or member of staff tests positive for COVID-19, the entire group must go into quarantine for 15 days.

“We have problem right now, which is the protocol released by the Government," Giulini told Radio Super Sound.

“By calling for a group quarantine in case of contagion, it's obvious it would not in our view allow us to complete the season by August 2. If there were one or two positive tests in one or two teams, everything would systematically be blocked for two weeks.

“Seeing as there's a good probability of that happening, it suggests there's an 80-90 per cent chance the season wouldn't finish by August 2, the deadline set by UEFA.

“We are trying to use some common sense, find a way with less rigidity and we should know more over the next few days."
