BVB eye Stoke ace Shaqiri as Mkhitaryan replacement

Borussia Dortmund see Xherdan Shaqiri as a possible replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.

The Sun suggests that the German club are eyeing the Swiss international having lost Armenian ace Mkhitaryan to Manchester United.

Shaqiri, 24, joined Stoke from Inter Milan for £12million last summer and despite showing glimpses of his brilliance, was underwhelming in his debut campaign in the Premier League.

Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel is seeking a player to fill the void left by Mkhitaryan and it is understood that Shaqiri fits the bill, however, Stoke will be demanding a hefty transfer fee after doing a mountain of work to convince the former Bayern Munich attacking midfielder to make the move to the Britannia Stadium.

Mark Hughes is also keen to keep hold of Shaqiri as he sets his Potters side to push towards Europe in 2016/17 following a third-straight ninth-placed finish in England's top flight.
