Burton Albion boss Clough reveals bumper windfall for Cup run

Burton Albion have welcomed the massive windfall from their Carabao Cup semifinal run.

Burton Albion will depart the Carabao Cup tonight at least having secured a £500,000 jackpot for their heroics in the competition. Manchester City go into the second-leg tonight defending a 9-0 lead.

"We have earned a windfall of around £500,000 and that is a phenomenal amount for us," manager Nigel Clough said. "It will be so important for our future. We will be able to put some of that money towards January signings, supporting the wage bill and stadium improvements.

"We've played seven games to get in sight of Wembley and that is a remarkable achievement."
