Burnley striker Vokes feels mentally stronger for long injury absence

Burnley striker Sam Vokes has found positives from his long injury absence.

The Welsh international striker has been out since March 29 when he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in the Championship match against Leicester City at Turf Moor.

"It's definitely strengthened me mentally and physically," said the 25-year-old to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"I've been spending a lot more time in the gym and working on the injury which has helped me physically but also mentally because to come through something like that is quite tough. It's been a good journey so far."
