Burnley striker Sam Vokes happy to score in win at Cardiff

Burnley striker Sam Vokes was delighted to score in victory over Cardiff City.

Vokes marked his 89th Premier League game for the Clarets – the other 11 coming with Wolverhampton Wanderers – with the decisive strike as Sean Dyche's men continued Cardiff's winless start thanks to a 2-1 victory at the Cardiff City Stadium.

And he admitted reaching the milestone was another special moment in his top-flight journey with the Clarets.

“It was nice to tick that off and a huge part of that has been with Burnley, which has shown the rise we've had since I've been here and it's been great to be part of that," said Vokes, who is in eighth season at Turf Moor.

“And, of course, to get a goal on the day made it even better.

“Johann (Berg Gudmundsson) did really well and I was delighted when it hit the back of the net.

“It's a great three points for us in the end."
