Burnley striker Chris Wood was delighted with his hat-trick for victory over friendly opponents Nice.

Wood struck his treble as the Clarets won 6-1 yesterday.

“Hopefully there'll be a couple in the season," Wood told the club's website.

“That would be lovely, but ultimately we are just going to work hard as a team.

“We are doing that so far, so here's to a good campaign.

“It's just nice to be scoring goals and putting in performances like that as a team. It's very pleasing.

“It's nice they (the goals) are going in, but ultimately it is pre-season and we are getting our fitness and sharpness in the matches.

“We're looking good and it's good building up to the season because it's only around the corner now.

“It shows that we're on the right track, which is all it is at the moment.

“We're on the right track and we need to keep going."
